Though Diu is not officially considered a city, it has become the first united area in India, which has completely crossed the solar energy system. Daman and Diu are geographically separated, but administratively form a single area. It is directly governed by the Indian federal government and has no own administration. According to media reports, Diu is the first bundled territory in India, which has gone through a complete system of solar energy. The total capacity of solar power plants is 13 megawatts, which almost doubles the maximum power. According to one of the executive engineers of the Department of Energy, the daily production of solar energy is around 10.5 megawatts, which is 50% more than the demand of local residents.
