In early May, the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) generated 100% of electricity needed for domestic consumption in Germany over several hours. The above image is from the smd.de website of the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). On May 1, 13:00, the power based on the RES was 53,987 GW, which exceeds the power consumption by 53,768 GW*h. Interestingly, only solar energy produced more electricity than the Energy Sources based on coal, gas, and nuclear power during the specified period. German Economy and Energy Minister Peter Ahtemär posted a post on his Twitter account. “It’s wonderful that we have 100% renewable energy today. Now, if power lines are dominated, electricity will flow”, he said.
